Short version: we do not have accounts, we do not sell anything to anyone, and we never see your card. What follows is the long version, written honestly — it describes what the code actually does.
What you write yourself
The intention, your name and the name of the person you dedicate the candle to are published on the shared altar and at the candle's link. Treat them as public: do not write anything there you would not put on a poster. All three fields are optional except the intention, and links are stripped out. A candle burns for 72 hours; after that it leaves the altar, but the record stays in storage so that old links keep working.
Cookies
Two, both functional and neither analytical: candle_locale remembers the language you chose, candle_theme remembers light or dark. They are needed for the site to render correctly on the very first request, and they are not shared with anyone.
Analytics
Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights count page views, four steps of the rite (picked a candle, wrote an intention, went to pay, the candle was lit) and loading speed. They use no cookies and build no profile. The events carry only the candle type, the role you picked (front-end, back-end, QA — if you picked one) and yes-or-no flags — never the intention or any name. We use the role to decide which prompts to write next; it is never attached to the candle itself.
Your address
So that reactions cannot be inflated, we remember that someone has already reacted. We do not store the address itself: it is turned into a one-way hash that is different for every candle, so the same person cannot be traced from one candle to another. It disappears after 90 days.
Payment
The payment happens on monobank's side. Card details never reach our servers — we only learn whether the invoice was paid, and light the candle.
Fonts and the widget
Fonts are served from our own domain: your browser makes no requests to Google. If you put the candle widget on your site, visitors' browsers ask our server for that candle's data — nothing else is sent or collected.
Your rights
You can ask us to remove a candle along with its text. Write to us — there is no form, because there are no accounts to authenticate you with.
